Last week our meet up was bug themed. We made a sanctuary for invertebrates in the Children’s Garden. My family had sawn an old, wooden pallet into quarters to make the main structure and others had brought along bags of leaves, sticks, stones and even a few bricks.
We set to work putting it all together and gathering additional materials from round about.
It was shown to some snails as a potential new home. This is how we left it but with a sketchy plan to add to it as time goes on.
We had the usual picnic lunch with our most bountiful pot luck to date and then some people moved on to more activities.
Some of the children made ‘nature crowns’ by sticking leaves, flowers, feathers and twigs onto a strip of double-sided tape on card.
The result were very satisfying.
There was also bug hunting,
studying of pigeons and some good, hearty playing.
